Are Photo Facials Effective?

Photo facials (also called foto facials) are becoming popular skin treatments for both men and women.  Some reasons for their popularity include convenience, excellent results, lack of significant discomfort, and zero recovery time.  A photo facial is one which uses light waves to improve the appearance of the skin.  The most common uses of this facial technique are for treating acne, improving skin texture and discoloration, and boosting collagen production.  Photo facials are suitable for all skin types, but the best results are on light colored skin.  

As we get older, our skin becomes thinner, and is not able to repair itself after damage, such as from sun exposure.  Photo facials can improve the effects of aging by boosting the production of collagen cells, providing some general plumpness in the skin, improving fine lines and wrinkles, improving skin texture, and improving discoloration, effectively taking years off our appearance.   In addition, treatment can kill the bacteria that cause acne, improving breakouts and appearance.  

Photo facials often provide benefits that are more than just skin deep.  Imagine the boost in self-confidence a young adult has when an acne prone complexion is clear and beautiful.  Visualize the youthfulness an older adult gains when their skin has a vitality it hasn’t had in years.  Many people gain a better outlook on life, simply from their new look.

Reasons for receiving a photo facial are as varied as the people seeking them, as are the results.  One may be looking for improvement of rosacea discoloration (reddening) and another for improvement of discoloration from sun exposure (brown spots).  Treatments are often performed on the face, as well as the neck and chest. For best results, a series of treatments is recommended.  Together with a regular skin care routine, photo facials are an excellent way to maintain a beautiful complexion.  

Regardless of the reasons for wanting one, photo facials provide excellent results for the conditions discussed.
